Biden Signs with CAA, Offering a Glimpse into Post-Presidency Plans

Former President Joe Biden Signs With Talent Agency CAA - Bloomberg

Former President Joe Biden has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), marking a new chapter in his post-presidency career. The move signals potential public engagements and media projects as he transitions out of political life after more than five decades in public service.

Richard Lovett, co-chair of CAA, expressed admiration for Biden in a statement announcing the partnership. “President Biden is one of America’s most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs,” Lovett said.

“His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility. We are profoundly honored to partner with him again.”

Biden was previously represented by CAA from 2017 to 2020, during the period between his vice presidency and presidency. During that time, he published his memoir, Promise Me, Dad, which detailed his personal and political challenges, particularly the loss of his son, Beau Biden.

He also embarked on the American Promise speaking tour, engaging audiences across the country on issues of leadership, unity, and public service.

CAA’s roster includes other prominent political figures, including former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. The agency specializes in managing high-profile clients in media, entertainment, and public speaking engagements.

At 82 years old, Biden has not provided extensive details about his future beyond the presidency.

However, as he left office, he reassured reporters that he would remain active in public life. “I’m not going to be out of sight or out of mind,” he said.

Following his departure from the White House, Biden traveled to California for a vacation on the same day as President Donald Trump’s inauguration. He also maintains residences in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he has spent time away from the political spotlight.

Meanwhile, Trump, in the early weeks of his presidency, has not shied away from commenting on Biden’s tenure. He has repeatedly criticized his predecessor, blaming him for various issues, including aviation safety concerns following a midair collision last week.

During a press conference on Friday, Trump mentioned Biden 11 times in a span of 25 minutes, according to The Washington Post.

Trump’s comments reflect the continued political divide, as he works to dismantle policies from Biden’s administration. One of his most controversial early moves has been restructuring the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a move that has sparked internal concerns among government officials.

Reports have surfaced of drastic changes at USAID under Trump’s leadership, with some officials expressing alarm over the agency’s new direction. “We are terrified,” one employee reportedly said, describing Trump’s approach as putting USAID through a “wood chipper.”

Trump’s administration has framed the changes as necessary government reforms, arguing that USAID has been mismanaged and overextended in its global operations. However, critics warn that the shake-up could undermine crucial international aid programs and diminish America’s global influence.

As Biden charts his path forward, the contrast between his approach and Trump’s leadership continues to define political discussions. Biden’s decision to sign with CAA suggests he may remain engaged in public speaking, writing, and advocacy.

His previous book and speaking tour focused on themes of resilience and unity, topics he may continue to emphasize as he shapes his post-presidency legacy.

Despite stepping away from elected office, Biden’s role as a public figure remains significant. Whether through books, speeches, or other forms of engagement, his influence is expected to endure in American political and cultural discourse.

Meanwhile, Trump’s administration is moving quickly to implement its agenda, frequently drawing comparisons to Biden’s policies. The ongoing public discourse between the two leaders highlights the lasting impact of their presidencies and the deep political divisions that continue to shape the nation.

With Biden’s new representation through CAA, his post-presidency activities are likely to gain further visibility. Whether he chooses to write another memoir, launch a new speaking tour, or engage in other public initiatives, his next steps will be closely watched.
