Kid Rock believes Trump has gained celebrity support because stars 'feel it's safe' now

Kid Rock, a longtime supporter of Donald Trump, performed at the President-elect’s MAGA Victory Rally on Sunday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., kicking off his set with “Sweet Home Alabama.”

The rocker followed up with his 2022 anthem “We The People,” featuring lyrics promoting unity and love. Fans chanted “U-S-A” as he left the stage.

Before the performance, Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, appeared on Fox & Friends Weekend to discuss the energy shift he’s observed in Washington and Hollywood. “It feels like the rebirth of our nation,” he told the hosts, describing the unity he sensed during recent events like the UFC fight in New York City, which also included Trump supporters Elon Musk and Dana White.

“There’s this overwhelming sense that America’s back,” the “Born Free” singer said. Kid Rock noted that Trump’s victory in November has led to more visible support from Hollywood figures who previously avoided political endorsements.

“Now they feel it’s safe to go in the water after dipping their toe in it for four to eight years,” he joked, adding, “Better to have them on board than not.”

Country superstar Carrie Underwood surprised many when she announced she would perform “America the Beautiful” at Trump’s inauguration, stating, “I love our country and am honored to be a small part of this historic event.” Fellow Trump supporter Jason Aldean is set to perform at the Liberty Ball alongside rapper Nelly.

Meanwhile, actors Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight were named “special ambassadors” to Hollywood by Trump last week. Voight also attended Sunday’s rally.

Kid Rock highlighted what he described as a shift in public perception of Trump, saying, “People saw what he did the first time. When you look at the facts and numbers, it was great, and it’s only going to get better.” He added that the enthusiasm among Trump supporters is “through the roof.”

The rocker emphasized the importance of reasonableness in political discourse, suggesting that even those who disagree politically could unite under a shared vision for the country.
