Photos Reveal Joe Biden Meeting Hunter Biden's Chinese Business Associates During 2013 China Trip

Recently unveiled photographs from 2013 show then-Vice President Joe Biden interacting with some of his son Hunter Biden’s Chinese business associates during an official trip to China. These images, released by the National Archives and Records Administration following a public records request, also capture Hunter Biden meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior officials.

The images document moments from Joe Biden’s visit to China, where Hunter Biden accompanied him. One series shows the Bidens meeting and conversing with Xi Jinping, who was China’s leader-in-waiting at the time. Another set depicts Joe Biden introducing Hunter to Li Yuanchao, then China’s vice president. Additionally, Hunter is seen presenting his father to Chinese business executives, including figures from BHR Partners, a private equity firm with ties to Hunter Biden. The photos conclude with group pictures featuring the Bidens and the business leaders.

The release of these images casts further doubt on Joe Biden’s previous claims that he never engaged in discussions related to his son’s business dealings. House Republicans, as part of their impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, have pointed to numerous interactions between the president and Hunter Biden’s foreign business partners, including those from China. Critics argue that these interactions contradict Joe Biden's assertions of maintaining a strict separation from his son’s professional dealings.

Despite this, Hunter Biden and others close to the matter have insisted that no substantive business discussions occurred during these encounters. According to testimony from Hunter’s former business partner, the younger Biden was purportedly selling the “illusion” of access to his father, without tangible outcomes being tied to these meetings.

Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, dismissed the significance of the photos, emphasizing that they align with Hunter’s prior congressional testimony. In his statement, Lowell criticized right-wing groups for spinning the images into conspiracy theories. He argued that the photos merely document routine events from the 2013 trip and called the attacks on Hunter Biden “tired misinformation.”

America First Legal, a pro-Trump organization that filed the records request in 2022, has taken credit for the release of these images. In a statement, the group claimed the photos support their allegations that Hunter Biden facilitated access to his father during the China trip. Stephen Miller, a former Trump adviser and a leader of the group, asserted that the images demonstrate the Bidens’ use of political power for private benefit.

In response, a White House spokesperson downplayed the revelations, calling them “old news.” The spokesperson noted that House Republicans have already spent years investigating these claims without uncovering evidence that Joe Biden was involved in his son’s business activities. The White House called on Republicans to abandon what they described as baseless allegations.

Hunter Biden’s foreign business ventures have been a focal point of Republican scrutiny. Federal investigations into his finances led to charges of tax-related crimes, some tied to unpaid taxes from overseas income. However, despite Republican claims of criminal influence-peddling, no charges of corruption or illegal lobbying have been filed against Hunter Biden.

Earlier this year, Joe Biden issued a controversial pardon for his son, covering tax and gun crimes. The pardon also shields Hunter Biden from prosecution for potential federal crimes committed between 2014 and 2024. Critics argue this move raises questions about accountability, while Biden’s supporters maintain it was a decision rooted in compassion.

The release of these photographs is likely to fuel ongoing debates about the Biden family’s business connections and their potential implications. As Republicans continue their investigations, both sides remain entrenched in their narratives about what these interactions signify. Whether these images will impact Joe Biden’s presidency or re-election campaign remains to be seen.
