President Joe Biden addressed the nation on Wednesday evening regarding the recent attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, denouncing the violent act as "despicable" and promising federal support in the ongoing investigation.

The attack has shaken the vibrant city, renowned for its rich culture and joyful spirit.

“New Orleans is a place unlike any other in the world,” Biden remarked. “It’s a city full of charm and joy.

So many people around the world love New Orleans because of its history, its culture, and above all, its people. While this person committed a terrible assault on the city, the spirit of New Orleans will never, never, never be defeated.”

Biden, set to leave office in just three weeks, emphasized his administration's commitment to justice in the final days of his presidency.

He confirmed that he has directed U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to provide all necessary resources to assist in the investigation, which remains in its early stages.

During his address, the president disclosed new information about the suspect, identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar.

According to Biden, Jabbar had posted violent content on social media hours before the attack. These videos reportedly referenced extremist ideologies and expressed a desire to commit acts of violence.

"The FBI also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social media indicating they were inspired by ISIS," Biden said. "He expressed a desire to kill. The ISIS flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct this attack."

Law enforcement also uncovered potential explosives in the suspect’s rented vehicle, raising further concerns about the severity of the situation.

Biden confirmed that no additional explosives were found in the vicinity, but he noted that the investigation remains in its preliminary stages and is rapidly evolving.

“This is a fluid situation,” Biden stated, urging the public to remain vigilant as authorities work to determine the full scope of the incident.

He praised the efforts of law enforcement and federal agencies for their swift response and assured the nation that every avenue would be pursued to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The president concluded his remarks by reaffirming the resilience of New Orleans and its people. “This city has faced many challenges throughout its history, but its spirit has never been broken.

This attack will not define New Orleans. Its culture, its people, and its joy will endure.”
