Sheriff McMahill acknowledged these connections during a press conference, stressing the importance of vigilance in a city like Las Vegas, which remains a global tourist destination.

“As you can imagine, with an explosion here on iconic Las Vegas Boulevard, we are taking all of the precautions that we need to take to keep our community safe,” McMahill said. “There does not appear to be any further threat to our community here now.”

According to a law enforcement official, the Cybertruck in Las Vegas was rented via the car-sharing app Turo, a service also used by the suspect in the New Orleans attack.

The Associated Press reported that the vehicle appeared to be carrying a large quantity of fireworks, which may have contributed to the explosion. A spokesperson for Turo confirmed that their platform was used to rent both vehicles involved in the incidents but declined to comment further on the ongoing investigations.

Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, addressed the incident on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing his concern and stating that Tesla’s senior team was fully engaged in the investigation.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority,” he posted on X. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their professionalism.”
