Trump Taps Former Fox News Contributor Tammy Bruce for State Department Role

President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that Tammy Bruce, a former Fox News contributor, will join his State Department later this month as the spokesperson under his nominee for Secretary of State, Senator Marco Rubio.

“It is my great honor to announce that Tammy Bruce will be joining our incredible nominee for United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, as spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Bruce, who left Fox News on Friday, had been a contributor to the network since 2005 and is also the author of several books. A Fox News spokesperson confirmed her departure and praised her contributions to the network.

“Tammy Bruce has been an extremely valued contributor at FOX News Media for nearly 20 years, and we wish her all the best in her new role,” the spokesperson told The Hill.

Trump lauded Bruce as a “highly respected political analyst” and credited her with recognizing what he described as the “lies and fraud of the Radical Left.”

He further highlighted her experience as a liberal community organizer and her efforts to counter what he called the “leftist agenda.”

According to her Fox News biography, Bruce was a registered Democrat until 2008 and worked on several left-leaning political campaigns in the 1990s.

She later shifted her focus to opposing progressive policies, drawing on her past experiences. Bruce also previously served as president of the National Organization for Women, giving her significant public advocacy experience.

“As one of the longest-serving news contributors, Tammy has brought TRUTH to the American people for over two decades,” Trump wrote.

“I know she will bring that same strength of conviction and fearless spirit to her new position as State Department spokesperson.”

Bruce’s appointment adds her to a growing list of former Fox News hosts and contributors joining the Trump administration. These include Sean Duffy, Pete Hegseth, Janette Nesheiwat, and Monica Crowley, among others.

Like her peers, Bruce’s new role does not require Senate confirmation, allowing her to transition into the position without delay.

Trump’s decision to appoint Bruce reflects his continued reliance on figures with media backgrounds and strong conservative voices for key roles in his administration.
