President Donald Trump made history as the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, and he used the moment to mock pop star Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs after their crushing defeat.

Trump, who attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, received loud cheers from the crowd when he was shown on screen during the national anthem. Later in the game, Swift appeared on the jumbotron and was met with overwhelming boos from the audience.

Swift, who has been a major public figure in the NFL world due to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, watched as her boyfriend’s team suffered a devastating 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The game carried additional weight for Swift, who grew up as an Eagles fan, making the loss even more painful.

After the game, Trump took to Truth Social to mock Swift and the Chiefs. He credited the "Make America Great Again" movement for the boos she received at the stadium, claiming that Swift was the only person who had a worse night than the Chiefs.

Trump wrote, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

During the game, Trump also posted multiple videos on Truth Social, highlighting the contrast between the crowd’s reaction to him and Swift. Clips showed him receiving cheers while Swift was loudly booed by the audience.

Tensions between Trump and Swift have been ongoing, particularly after the singer endorsed Kamala Harris for president in September. The endorsement quickly drew Trump's ire.

The day after her announcement, Trump appeared on Fox & Friends and stated that he preferred Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, over Swift. Brittany Mahomes has previously shown support for Trump through her social media activity.

Shortly after Swift’s endorsement of Harris, Trump posted on Truth Social, writing simply, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” His public animosity toward the singer has continued since then, especially as she became an unavoidable presence in the NFL.

Swift’s attendance at Chiefs games over the past season has divided football fans. While many credited her for bringing a new wave of supporters—particularly female fans—to the NFL, others grew frustrated with the constant attention she received during broadcasts.

Whenever she attended a game, the cameras frequently panned to her, leading some longtime fans to complain about excessive coverage.

Her presence at last year’s Super Bowl, where the Chiefs emerged victorious, only added to the growing debate. This season, her regular appearances at games continued, with some fans voicing their exhaustion over the constant discussion of her involvement.

There was also noticeable tension between Swift and Brittany Mahomes throughout the season. While the two had publicly bonded earlier in the year, they appeared more distant at certain games, fueling speculation that their political differences played a role.

Swift’s endorsement of Harris stood in stark contrast to Brittany Mahomes’ perceived support for Trump. Despite this, the two maintained a cordial relationship and were even seen having dinner with their partners, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, just days before the Super Bowl.

Although Trump had previously spoken favorably of the Mahomes family and even picked the Chiefs to win the game, he had no hesitation in mocking them after their loss. His Truth Social post targeted Swift, Kelce, and the entire Chiefs team, making it clear that he was relishing their defeat.

But Trump didn’t stop there. He also used the opportunity to criticize the NFL’s new kickoff format, a rule change that he has opposed since the start of the season.

He expressed frustration over the change, which alters how teams handle kickoffs and was implemented to improve player safety. Trump wrote, “The worst part of the Super Bowl, by far, was watching the Kickoff where, as the ball is sailing through the air, the entire field is frozen, stiff.

College Football does not do it, and won’t! Whose idea was it to ruin the Game?”

Trump has long positioned himself as a critic of the NFL, frequently attacking the league over its policies, including changes made in response to player safety concerns and past protests during the national anthem.

His latest remarks continue his history of using football as a platform for political messaging, with Swift now becoming one of his most prominent targets.

Swift has not yet responded to Trump’s comments, and it remains unclear if she will address the boos she received at the Super Bowl. Despite the backlash, she remains one of the most influential figures in entertainment, and her relationship with Kelce continues to keep her connected to the sports world.

With Trump and Swift firmly on opposite sides politically, the feud between them shows no signs of fading. Swift’s endorsement of Harris has placed her squarely in the political spotlight, while Trump’s continued attacks on her suggest that he sees her influence as a potential threat.

The boos at the Super Bowl may have been just one moment, but they highlight the ongoing culture war that continues to play out on the national stage.
